Care N’ Care Health Plan to Conduct Class at Fort Worth Forest Park in Support of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day April 28

(FORT WORTH, Texas – April 17, 2018) — In support of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day on April 28, Care N’ Care Health Plan will be offering its members a morning Tai Chi class at Forest Park in Fort Worth. The class is the third in a month-long series of Tai Chi classes Care N’ Care has conducted for seniors in partnership with North Texas Qigong. Other classes have taken place at Arlington Wimbledon Park and Plano Harrington Park.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art utilized for both defense training and enormous health benefits. Although it is more than 2,000 years old, Tai Chi is in fact on the cutting edge of modern Western medical research as studies continue to emerge validating its usefulness in improving the strength of major muscle groups, aiding in cardiovascular fitness and bettering posture. It is often recommended to older people for its various physical and psychological benefits and is supported by a number of associations, including the National Parkinson Foundation.

“Tai Chi has the ability to renew us and through that renewal enhance our strength, health and creativity,” said Wendy Karsten, chief executive officer of Care N’ Care. “Our classes are especially geared to those who have never tried Tai Chi before. It is performed slowly with simple movements that are easy to learn, so its participants can experience the personal rejuvenation that Tai Chi can provide.”

For nearly two decades, World Tai Chi and Qigong Day events have been held the last Saturday in April in hundreds of cities in over 80 nations spanning six continents. The event’s motto is “One World … One Breath” and is designed to bring together people across racial, economic, religious and geo-political boundaries to join together for the purpose of health and healing, providing an example to the world.

The Care N’ Care class at Fort Worth Forest Park will be held April 28 from 9 – 11 a.m. It will be conducted by instructor Martha Fiddes, a certified Qigong master practitioner who is also a physical therapist and a certified clinical specialist in geriatrics.
