Care N’ Care (HMO/PPO) Health Plan Salutes Physicians Throughout

North Texas in Celebration of National Doctors Day March 30

(FORT WORTH, Texas – March 26, 2019) — National Doctors Day is celebrated each year to recognize physicians for their work and contributions to society and the community. In honor of this day, Care N’ Care Health Plan is asking everyone to pause and say “thank you” for the important role physicians play in helping to maintain the health and wellness of North Texas residents.

“We are so thankful to all the wonderful doctors serving our community,” said David Sand, M.D., chief medical officer at Care N’ Care. “In sickness and in health, across the aging spectrum, physicians make an impact in the lives of North Texas residents and their families every single day. Doctors Day is an opportunity to take a moment to say, ‘thank you, and we appreciate you.’”

As one of the area’s fastest-growing HMO and PPO Medicare Advantage plans, Care N’ Care offers its members access to a constantly expanding provider network. While there is no hard-and-fast rule about how often seniors should see their doctor, Dr. Sand says that having a good relationship with your doctor is an important part of healthy aging and that older adults should have at least one medical checkup a year.

“At that visit the doctor can review medications, check on health concerns, talk about lifestyle topics and go over recommended tests,” Dr. Sand said. “Particularly for seniors, seeing a doctor is important for a number of reasons: You might spot silent symptoms of health issues, it reminds you about important screenings, and it allows you to stay on top of immunizations. It’s also a time to get your questions answered about any medical concerns you might have.”

In support of its network physicians, each year Care N’ Care recognizes a select number of its affiliated doctors with its “FIVE STARS” award for outstanding quality performance. “These awards strongly reflect the commitment of physicians in helping members maintain good health through health screenings and appropriate care management,” said Dr. Sand. “We count on doctors to be there for us when we need them and to be a friend, a confidant and a trusted source of knowledge. Today, we say thank you.”

The first Doctors Day was observed on March 30, 1933. It wasn’t until 1991 that March 30 was officially proclaimed National Doctors Day by President George H. W. Bush. In his proclamation, President Bush said, “More than the application of science and technology, medicine is a special calling; and those who have chosen this vocation in order to serve their fellowman understand the tremendous responsibility it entails.”
