Care N’ Care’s Shane Greene, Pharm. D., Named Fellowship Status in the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists

(FORT WORTH, Texas – April 7, 2020) — Shane Greene, Pharm. D., director of pharmacy services for Care N’ Care (HMO/PPO) Health Plan, has been named Fellowship status in the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists (TSHP). This high honor recognizes members who have made “significant and sustained contributions to the society and the profession” and who have “distinguished themselves in practice.”

“Being named a fellow is an incredible honor, and I am deeply appreciative of the board of TSHP for recognizing my work and passion for the profession in this way,” said Dr. Greene. “None of us enter the healthcare profession looking for accolades. I am so proud of the work we all do every day in helping to take care of patients who need us most and in bettering the healthcare system for everyone.”

Dr. Greene served as president of the TSHP from 2015-2016 and on its board of directors from 2013-2017. His involvement with the society has included leadership positions on numerous committees and councils including the council on membership development, the credentialing committee, the council on communications affairs and many others. He also served on the editorial board of the society’s journal from 2006-2008.

At Care N’ Care, Dr. Greene works to optimize the pharmacy benefits for all of the health plan’s members. His responsibilities include not only ensuring a compliant Medicare Part D pharmacy program but developing and managing innovative clinical programs that ensure safe and appropriate medication use. In his role Dr. Greene is a frequent participant in Care N’ Care’s unique “Ask the Pharmacist” program where he meets with seniors at various locations around the community to offer a short presentation on current topics and then answers medication-related questions so seniors feel better informed and more confident about the prescriptions they are taking.

Dr. Greene brings to this task a wealth of pharmacy-related experience, having previously served as the director of clinical pharmacy services for North Texas Specialty Physicians as well as associate professor of pharmacy practice at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s School of Pharmacy. He has also worked in the retail and hospital pharmacy space, further complementing his broad understanding of the pharmacy-related issues of all consumers, especially seniors. A frequently published author and in-demand speaker, Dr. Greene holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University.
